WHISTLER RESORT

It was the fishing, not the skiing, that first brought visitors to Whistler. The trout in Alta Lake played host to fishing enthusiasts, as the area became the most popular summer destination west of the Rocky Mountains in the 1920s. In 1960 it was the dream of some Vancouver businessmen to create an alpine ski area that began the transformation into what is now the resort of Whistler Blackcomb.
