There are several lakes surrounding Whistler that offer excellent fishing opportunities. More adventurous anglers can opt for a helicopter, floatplane or 4x4 trip to explore the remote lakes and rivers high in the Coast Mountains.

In the winter our lakes freeze, but we are still able to offer river trips which are an interesting alternative to a day on the hill, or for the non-skiing member in your party. In fact many serious anglers regard March and April as the best months for fishing in our area. Fishing Highlights in Whistler There are several lakes and rivers located near Whistler, some only minutes away. A few popular fishing locations near Whistler include:
Alta Lake: A convenient fishing spot, this catch-and-release lake is located just minutes from Whistler Village. Alta Lake teems with rainbow and cutthroat trout. Along the shoreline, there are a number of shallow, sheltered bays from which to cast a line. Boat rentals are also available.
Green Lake: Green Lake is another catch-and-release lake and a popular fishing spot for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Located just minutes from Whistler Village, the lake is famous for emerald-green waters and surrounding scenery.
Cheakamus Lake: Snow capped mountain peaks, glaciers and snowfields tower 1,600m/5,248ft above the forested shores of Cheakamus Lake. The lake supports rainbow trout and Dolly Varden and, like most alpine lakes in Whistler region, is exceptionally scenic.
Callaghan Lake: This tranquil fishing location features a shoreline treed with old-growth forest and surrounding meadows and wildflowers. Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden are the main catch. Float Plane and Heli-Fishing Tours: For a unique fishing experience, consider a guided backcountry trip via helicopter or floatplane. There are dozens of rivers and lakes in the high alpine wilderness waiting to be explored.
Fly fishing for Steelhead: Whistler is an ideal base for winter steelhead fishing. Close to Whistler lies the Squamish River system, which has strong winter steelhead runs. Combine a ski holiday with a day on the river fishing for these prized sport fish.
You will be required to purchase a B.C. Freshwater fishing License.
We take all of the hassle out of a fishing trip. All you need to do is show up, we provide you with all the necessary equipment including waders, quality fly tackle, and of course flies. We encourage you to bring your own equipment if you prefer. Your guide will be glad to provide anything that you don't have. We recommend that you bring along rainwear, an extra sweater, sunglasses, and a camera.
In order to best preserve the resource we are strictly catch and release, if this is a problem we encourage you to take your business elsewhere.
